Project Summary
Welcome to Hell! Wait… What the stone gorgon are you doing here? You’re not dead! Argh, get in the boat mortal, I will build you a Highway Outta Hell ~ Charon
The project was created as part of a larger game project course at FutureGames.
Game Outline
Highway Outta Hell is a two player local co-op experience that will take you on an adventure in Greek hell. Play as an unlucky trespasser, which by accident ended up in the deepest abyss of Tartarus, fight for your life in an attempt to escape in Charon's boat or play as Charon the ferryman himself and build the road of salvation for the damned soul.
One player controls the boat, maneuvering it to the end while avoiding obstacles and listening to their partners directions.
The other player builds the road on the go as the boat is driving through it. They must be quick and careful with which road sections they place while giving directions to their partner.
My Contribution
Game Design
Together with the other designers, we outlined the game, created design documents and defined the mechanics as well as writing the story.
Sound Design
I edited and implemented all the sounds and sound systems in the game. I also found and implemented free use music.
Scripting
I wrote scripts for the functionality of certain game areas, such as hazard functionality, death, respawn, and sound system triggers. I also worked with the programmers on improving the code implementation.
